“As the youngest member of the cast, it’s been absolutely wonderful to connect with older actors in the community. I’ve been able to learn from them, and delight in watching how they bring their characters to life. Laying the Ghost is a comedy, so it’s been a lot of fun to develop humour through facial expressions, intonation, and actions. The characters are all complex too — it’s been a joy to explore the nuance of my character, Sadie Croft. She’s a young actor seeking advice from Margot Buchannan, a seasoned actor in a retirement home. I can certainly relate to this aspect of Sadie myself! We’ve only had the term to rehearse, but I’ve really enjoyed the fast pace of it all. It’s always a nice evening out at rehearsal; you wouldn’t believe the amount of tea and biscuits consumed throughout the process!” – Julia Wilkins.
