Senior hospitality students from Westlake Girls High School recently embarked on an enriching excursion to the AUT School of Hospitality and Tourism, New Zealand’s leading institution for leisure and hospitality education.
The day began with an informative presentation on the diverse career pathways available through AUT, followed by a tour of their state-of-the-art facilities, including the rooftop garden. The students then donned their aprons and hairnets, and had the opportunity to experience the real-life culinary environment. Guided by experienced tutors, they put their classroom skills to the test by crafting their own gourmet burgers.
Working collaboratively, the students prepared their ingredients—practicing mise en place—before firing up the grills to produce a burger worthy of a restaurant setting. This experience reinforced the training that they receive at W
