Putting Business Knowledge to the Test

010

Ten Year 13 students put their Accounting and Economics knowledge to the test at the University of Auckland Business School, taking on seven fast-paced rounds of questions in the annual Auckland Pursuits Competition.

Held on Thursday 13 August, the competition saw Westlake Girls field two teams of five, with one competing in Economics and the other in Accounting. Each round focused on different subject areas, ranging from NZQA internal and external material to general financial knowledge.

Working under time pressure added to the challenge, requiring us to collaborate, think critically and draw on our subject knowledge to complete each round to the best of our ability.

Although neither WGHS team placed, the competition was an opportunity I thoroughly enjoyed. The quizzes allowed us to expand our knowledge of Accounting and Economics, while visiting the University of Auckland Business School gave us an exciting insight into the university environment and what a lecture class looks like.

Thank you to Ms Grobler and Mr Thompson for facilitating the event and making it possible for our teams to participate. We appreciate their effort, dedication and commitment to supporting the success and development of our finance students!
