Kia ora, katou,
This week, we had important conversations with staff and Year 12 and 13 students about the impact that social media can have on how young people see themselves, relate to others, and make sense of the world around them. As a school, we want our students to have the confidence and self-awareness to navigate both their online and offline lives with sound judgement, empathy, and a strong sense of who they are.
I attended Pride & Prejudice during its season, and it was a superb evening of entertainment. I am in awe of the talent and commitment of both staff and students who work together so beautifully to deliver productions of such a high standard.
There is plenty more to look forward to over the next couple of weeks, including a range of musical events showcasing the talent and hard work of our students, along with our much-anticipated Pinoy Night. These occasions are a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community, celebrate our students, and enjoy the energy and diversity that make Westlake such a special place.
As we get further into the school year, it’s vital for students to remember to be intentional about how they use their time and keep organised, so that they can model excellent study habits, while still enjoying a well-rounded life.
