On Friday 12th May, the premier ensembles from both Westlake Schools performed to a full audience in the WGHS Event Centre. It was an impressive night of high-level music-making on display, as the top musicians were able to show off their hard work and dedication applied to their demanding repertoire throughout rehearsals in Term One. The Westlake Chamber Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, Big Band, Concert Band, and the premier choirs Cantare, Voicemale and Choralation, each performed a bracket of 2-3 pieces in preparation for The Big Sing Festival and KBB Festival coming up. One of the highlights of the night was from Year 13 student, Hana Tani, performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor with the Symphony Orchestra on the Concert D Steinway. Congratulations Hana on a stunning performance that had the audience spell bound.
If you would like to hear more from our talented musicians – all six Westlake Choirs will be performing on Tuesday 6th June at 6:30pm at the WGHS Event Centre. Entry is by donation at the door – please come along and support our fantastic singers as they head into The Big Sing Festival.
