On Wednesday, 11 March, our Year 11 Drama class had the incredible opportunity to attend a performance of Waiora Te Ūkaipō by Hone Kouka at the ASB Waterfront Theatre. The students were captivated by the moving performances, powerful waiata, and the stunning design that brought the story vividly to life.
Following the show, the class participated in a Q&A with the cast, gaining fascinating insights into the creative process, the challenges of performing such emotional material, and the cultural significance and connections to tīpuna woven throughout the production.
It was an inspiring experience that deepened our students’ understanding of theatre, storytelling, and the expressive power of performance.
