Just 10 points separated Westlake Girls from the top of the Auckland College Climbing Series, with our climbers finishing an outstanding second overall after four rounds of competition.
The team completed a strong series in the fourth and final round, with three Westlake Girls climbers reaching the finals. Bailey Welch and Amaya Tan-Peters finished first and second respectively in the Senior Division, while Jessica Allen placed fifth in the Junior Division.
Across the overall series, Westlake accumulated an impressive 666 points, finishing narrowly behind Takapuna Grammar School on 676.
Individually, Amaya and Bailey finished equal first in the Senior Division standings, while Jessica secured fifth place overall in the Junior Division.
The team now turns its attention to the New Zealand Secondary Schools Bouldering Nationals, where the climbers will once again test themselves against some of the country’s best.
