Congratulations to Coach Bronwen Davidson and the Westlake Girls Premier Basketball team on an extraordinary victory over St Kent’s in the final of the Auckland Secondary Schools Championships at Eventfinda Stadium.
Trailing by 17 points, Westlake showed incredible courage, composure and belief, fighting their way back to level the game in the final three minutes before sealing a thrilling 63–60 championship victory.
It was also fantastic to have Tall Fern Imani Rasmussen back from pre-Olympic qualifiers in Mexico and on court with the team. Imani worked tirelessly throughout the game before eventually fouling out during the closing stages.
The result capped off a remarkable comeback and a hard-fought, well-deserved championship victory.
