What better way to farewell five years of Dance and Drama than with a night at the theatre?
On Tuesday 13 October, 25 of our Year 13 Dance and Drama students, along with their teachers, headed to Auckland Theatre Company’s production of Cabaret at the ASB Waterfront Theatre for a special end-of-year outing.
Transported to 1929 Berlin, students were treated to a wonderful mix of jazz, drama and storytelling. With Nomi Cohen as Sally Bowles and Matu Ngaropo as the Emcee, there was plenty to take in, from the energy of the performances to the skill involved in bringing such complex characters to life.
But the evening was about more than enjoying a great show. It was a chance to celebrate the students’ time in the performing arts at Westlake and, perhaps, spark a lifelong love of live theatre.
Judging by the conversations afterwards, we suspect quite a few of these students will be back in a theatre audience before too long!
