From the Principal

Kia ora, everyone,

We’ve had another action-packed couple of weeks at Westlake, with lots going on, as you’ll read in this issue of our newsletter.

I know that staff and students alike will be breathing a sigh of relief that exams are over, the holidays are here, and Spring has sprung!

Term 4 is always busy and intense, with many assessments and highly important exams for our seniors. In assemblies this week, I’ve been reminding the students to make a special effort to find a balance between relaxation and their academic challenges for the rest of the year. We want our students to reap the rewards of all their hard work during the year. They can only do this if they are well-prepared.

As parents and caregivers, please help your young people maintain a good balance during the coming break. Check in with them to ensure that, in addition to continuing to prepare for the coming NZQA exams, they’re also relaxing and having fun.

Just a reminder, the transition to daylight saving always takes a greater toll than expected. Getting enough sleep is another important ingredient, and if you can get the occasional vegetable down them, too, so much the better!

Have a lovely break.

Jane Stanley
