The Junior Cross Country Team sparkled at the Northwest Cross Country on Tuesday, winning the Junior Girls event and Junior Girls 3-person team award.
The competition is a precursor to the Auckland Secondary Schools Championship on 1 June and featured the top runners from the North Shore and West Auckland who battled their way through muddy, Moire Park in Massey.
Westlake Girls, Emma Davies won the Junior event effortlessly and was closely followed by fellow Year 9 student, Freya Beaumont in 2nd. Aariya Rama secured the group’s top honours in the 3-person junior by finishing 5th in the 48-person field. The Junior team is now readying itself for Auckland Secondary Schools Cross Country Championship at Lloyd Ellsmore Park next month.
