Girls Adventure Racing – Orienteering event

The first of three Auckland Schools Orienteering events kicked off this week with the Rogaine champs at Stoneybrook Farm. Although the conditions on the day were calm and full of sunshine, a few days of decent rain beforehand turned the once dry farmland into a wet, muddy and soggy course.

10 students from Westlake Girls took part in the 90 minute Rogaine as either an individual or a pair. Westlake came away with a great podium result a Sasha Bosch & Cayleigh Blackburn placed 3rd in the Intermediate Girls Pair. Congratulations to all the girls who took part in this event – the conditions were very tough out there and there was some strong competition too. The team is now preparing for the Auckland schools Individual Orienteering Champs in two weeks’ time where we hope for a dryer course.
