From the Principal

Head and Deputy Head Prefect

Kia ora Parents and Caregivers,

It has been a busy couple of weeks as we head towards the end of the school year, and a time when our students’ efforts are realised and rewarded.

At our Special Assembly on Monday, we were delighted to announce our 2023 Prefects, including Head Prefect Isabella Drummond and the Deputy Head Prefect Dinithi Liyanage.  I’m very much looking forward to working with these two outstanding students next year, along with the rest of the Prefect team.

I want to thank our outgoing Prefect team, led by Head Prefect Ivy Mitchell and Deputy Head Prefect Ella Dorward. All our Prefects made a significant contribution to our school, encouraging other students and demonstrating their leadership skills.

On Wednesday 2nd November we celebrated the leadership and contribution of Senior students with a Special Awards Ceremony.

Later that evening saw the Event Centre full once again as we held our Senior Academic Prize-Giving joined by parents and whānau to celebrate our students’ success.

On Thursday the Year 13 students enjoyed their Leaver’s Afternoon Tea outside and in the foyer of the Event Centre, with friends and family. It is a special time as they mark the end of their time at Westlake Girls and transition to life beyond secondary school as proud citizens of Aotearoa New Zealand.

NCEA exams started this week for all our Seniors, and I wish all our students the very best for these important assessments.
