Year 13 Health students have started off their year exploring different health issues such as Breast Cancer and Mental Health (Depression & Anxiety). This links in with their assessment where they evaluate health practices currently used in New Zealand and around the world. Students have been looking into western scientific medicine, traditional & cultural medicine, and complementary & alternative medicine. Year 13 Health students from Westlake Girls, Glenfield College and Carmel College were involved in a half day workshop on Tuesday 28th February. At the workshop students got to experience and develop their understanding around Reiki, Yoga, Acupuncture, Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Counselling. We also hosted a General Practitioner who provided insight on what they are able to provide to patients. Many of these treatments our students had no prior knowledge of, so this experience has been highly memorable.
