During the July holidays, Year 12 student Emily Sullivan competed in the National Brass Competition held in Dunedin. She competed as one of eight competitors in the under 19 junior horn categories, winning the flugelhorn section and placing second overall. Emily went on to compete in the next level of Junior Champion of Champions and although did not place, felt that it was a personal best for her. She says: “I’m pleased that this is the highest level I’ve achieved as a soloist and the end result wasn’t as important, as I was really proud of how cleanly I played in a pressured situation”.
