On Wednesday 23rd August we celebrated Ākonga Māori Achievement at Westlake with our first ever student run assembly for all Māori students.

Ngā Rangatira Āpōpō rangatahi Isabella Drummond, Maia George and Angelique Grindlay planned and ran the assembly and did an amazing job. 

We were able to celebrate a variety of individual and collective achievements from 2023, including Ngā Manu Kōrero successes, Te Rerenga Wāna at Polyfest 2023 and our 2023 National Ki o Rahi Champions. 

Satriana Epiha (Satch) was our guest speaker who reinforced the importance of celebrating success and being proud to be Māori. We were also treated to a beautiful rendition of Hutia Te Rito by Bella, Mina and Paige.
