From the Principal

Kia ora Parents and Caregivers,

2020 is definitely a moveable feast! It’s been challenging to reschedule events (sometimes several times over) that have been delayed by lockdowns, and there are many sporting and other events that unfortunately just won’t happen this year. But, as I said to our students in assembly this week, the unique challenges of 2020 have produced adaptability and resilience, and we’ve discovered what’s important to us.

With such a disrupted year, it’s even more important than usual that we focus on the positives and celebrate success. As we draw near to the end of Term 3, we are working hard to ensure our Term 4 functions are set in place – even if they are Alert Level dependent.

We’re absolutely delighted that the Year 13 Ball was able to be rescheduled, and are now awaiting news of Alert Level 1 to ensure we can proceed. Likewise, our Music and Sports Award evenings are in formation, as are our Senior, Junior and Special Awards prizegiving ceremonies. Despite the ups and downs, we still have a lot to celebrate, and some very clever students to acknowledge. You can find a list of our planned celebrations under “Important Things to Note – Key Dates” in this newsletter.

We were also pleased to hear about the Government’s decision to recognise the 13 days of classroom time lost during the most recent Auckland lockdown. Senior students received information about these extra credits via Google Classrooms, and we also have information for you in this newsletter under “Important Things to Note”.

Finally, a little later than anticipated, you will receive your password for our Parent Portal next week. We apologise that it has taken so long, however the IT issue proved more problematic than first anticipated. Our team has been working solidly behind the scenes to rebuild the system, and we are just about ready to launch.

I hope you have a lovely weekend, and enjoy these longer evenings.

Kind regards

Jane Stanley
