From the Principal

Jane, Kaia and Darcy

Kia ora Parents and Caregivers,

I’m sure many of you will be looking forward to Level 2 next week, with schools and most businesses open – even if it’s not quite back to normal just yet.

As a school, we are counting down to being back in the classroom and seeing our students again. We know from last time there will be a period of adjustment, however we also know how much our students will enjoy being back amongst friends. If your daughter is feeling apprehensive about Monday, please reassure her that our top priority is for her to feel comfortable and reconnect with friends and teachers. Like last time, we will work closely with any students who struggled with their studies during lockdown.

A reminder, too, that any students travelling to school on public buses will need to wear a mask. While these are not compulsory at school, anyone who wishes to, can wear one.

There has still been a surprising amount going on with our students, and you can read their success stories in this newsletter. We are aware that a lot of events and activities have been affected by the lockdown, and we are working to reschedule where possible. We won’t be able to achieve this in every instance, and a lot will depend on how long Auckland stays at Level 2.

In the meantime, we will endeavour to keep you up-to-date with any new developments. We are delighted that our Gala Concert has been rescheduled and hope you’ll be able to join us for this night of musical celebration.

I want to thank you once again for your support – of our school, and your daughter’s learning. I know it’s been said before, but the sentiment is genuine. As a school we’ve faced some challenges in 2020, and our whānau have journeyed with us as we have navigated through these. These always result in good learnings and positive steps forward in the long run, and all have shown the resilience and strong sense of community within our school.

I hope you have a lovely weekend and enjoy some family time before the routine begins again on Monday.
