From the Principal

Kia ora Parents and Caregivers,

Our school has been a hive of activity over the past two weeks, as students and staff have adjusted to our new normal. Our health and safety procedures have provided a layer of assurance for those of us back onsite, and I’m really pleased with how quickly our senior students have embraced being in the classroom.

We’re looking forward to celebrating our senior cohort as they leave next Wednesday to prepare for their exams. For our Year 13s, we understand it won’t be the farewell they were hoping for, but we will still make it special as we mark the end of their time at Westlake Girls.

It will be an exciting week, as we are also welcoming back our Year 9 and 10 students on Thursday. We’re confident we have processes in place that will allow students to reconnect while keeping as safe as possible. We’ve seen our senior students thrive as they spend time with teachers and friends, and after some initial nerves, we know our juniors will benefit from the same experience.

If you have any concerns about your Year 9 or 10 daughter returning next week, please email [email protected] or your daughter’s Deans.

As we come to the end of online learning, I want to acknowledge our teaching staff who have been instructing remotely and in class, while also managing their own bubbles. Our juniors returning next week will relieve some of this pressure. On Thursday and Friday we will focus on reconnection and assessing where our students are, both academically and emotionally.

I hope you have a lovely weekend and enjoy some retail therapy.

Kindest regards

Jane Stanley
